The remarks came after Trump claimed on Thursday that "BRICS is dead" and said "if they want to play games with the dollar, they're going to be hit with a 100 percent tariff" as he responded to a reporter's question about the prospect of BRICS.
As an important platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries, the BRICS nations advocate openness, inclusiveness, cooperation, and win-win results. They do not engage in camp confrontation or target third parties, but aim to achieve common development and universal prosperity, said Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun.
China is willing to continue to work with BRICS partners to deepen practical cooperation in various fields and make more contributions to the sustained and stable growth of the world economy, Guo said.
On the issue of the US imposing tariffs, Guo said China has repeatedly stated its position that there are no winners in trade wars and tariff wars, which will only harm the common interests of people of all countries.
