Heavy US and British Bombing Reported in Yemen’s Hodeidah Province

According to Al Mayadeen, the province was hit nine times on Wednesday

A series of US and British airstrikes were reported in Yemen’s western Red Sea province of Hodeidah on Wednesday as the US continues its heavy bombing campaign against the Houthis.

A correspondent for Al Mayadeen reported that Hodeidah was hit at least nine times throughout the day. Yemen’s Saba news agency reported that US and British strikes on Hodeidah continued into Wednesday evening, hitting several areas of the province.

So far, the US military has not announced the strikes, but US Central Command typically puts out press releases a few hours after they are finished, or sometimes they wait until the following day.

On Wednesday morning, CENTCOM announced that it launched a strike against Houthi-controlled Yemen a day earlier but didn’t specify where. The command claimed it hit a Houthis missile that was preparing to launch. A few hours later, the Houthis fired a missile into the Gulf of Aden, but CENTCOM said it did not hit any ships.

Since January 12, the US has launched around 30 rounds of missile strikes on Yemen. Some have been heavy bombings conducted with the UK that hit dozens of targets, while others have been unilateral US strikes against a single target.

According to the Houthis, the US and UK have conducted a total of 403 attacks on Yemen, including 203 airstrikes. The US has also been firing missiles from Navy warships in the Red Sea.

The Houthis, officially known as Ansar Allah, have shown no sign that they will back down in the face of the US military. The Yemeni group, which governs an area where 70-80% of the Yemeni population lives, has said the only way it would stop attacks on shipping in the Red Sea would be if Israel’s onslaught on Gaza comes to an end.
